License and premium modules
Tunnelry is free and open source. Everything it does today stays free. Here is what the license means in plain words.
What the AGPL-3.0 lets you do
- Use Tunnelry for anything, at home, in a company or for clients, as long as you like, without paying.
- Read the code, change it, and share your changes.
- Run it for your own team or your clients, with no obligations at all if you do not change the program.
What it asks of you
- If you give Tunnelry (changed or not) to other people, they get the same rights, and you must give them the source code.
- If you change it and let others use your changed version over a network (for example as a service), you must offer those users the source of your changes. This is the part that sets the AGPL apart from the plain GPL, and it is why a competitor cannot take the program, close it and sell it as theirs.
- Keep the license and copyright notices.
Commercial license
- If the AGPL does not suit your company (for example you want to build a closed product on top of Tunnelry), a commercial license with other terms is available from the author.
- Write to the address below and say what you need.
Premium modules (planned)
- Later, extra modules may be offered for a fee or a subscription, for example single sign-on, automatic backups to an external store, alerts, and managing several servers.
- Everything that exists today stays in the free program. Security features (updates, two-factor authentication, the firewall) will never be locked behind a payment.
- A premium module is activated with a signed license file that is checked on your own server. It does not phone home and it needs no connection to us.
- There is no price list yet. If you would like to shape what is built, tell us what you need.
Ideas and bug reports
- Tunnelry is developed by its author and code from outside is not merged. Bug reports, ideas and questions are very welcome: write to the address below. Ideas that fit are implemented by the author himself.
Source code
The program is written in PHP and Python, so the source is exactly what is in the release archive: you can read every file after downloading it. The full license text is in the file LICENSE in the archive.
